On 24 June, TAFISA hosted a webinar on Sport and the media: Championing inclusion through Sport. This event, the seventh in the new Mission 2030 Series cycle, attracted attendees from around the globe, with over 400 registrations, and featured participation from journalists, media professionals, and media experts in the field. The invited experts engaged with the topic, guided by moderator Osazemen Aghedo, TAFISA Project Manager. Martin Mazur, director of the AIPS Sport Media Awards, opened the webinar with an insightful presentation, highlighting journalists' duty in sharing stories, where to find sport content, diversity and inclusion in sport media, and also some practical examples.
Before moving to the panel discussion, Fernando Soria Herndandez from Espana se Mueve, presented the SIMS project to the audience. He shared the objectives of the project, target groups and key learnings. Some participants indicated interest in being a part of the project and also praised the relevance of the training under the SIMS project.
The panel discussion brought together a diverse group of experts, including Natalia Donets (Sport Time), Sven Busch (Olympics.com), Fernando Soria Hernández (España se Mueve), and Martin Mazur (AIPS), who shared valuable insights on fostering inclusive sport media. The conversation explored how inclusive reporting can be encouraged, the role of sport organizations in supporting journalists, the ways to measure the impact of representation and inclusive storytelling, and the power of collaboration across sectors.
